I'm a geographer, spatial data scientist, designer, and accidental software developer based in Somerville, Massachusetts.
I am a Lecturer in Urban Science and Planning in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT. I teach Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data science, and geocomputation. I also lead the Spatial Analysis and Action Research Group (SAARG) and serve as Lead Systems Engineer for the Data + Feminism Lab, led by Catherine D’Ignazio.
I am the Founder & Principal of OGRAPHIES Research and Design, LLC. OGRAPHIES is a mission-driven GIS, mapping, and spatial data science consultancy based in Greater Boston that designs tools and analyzes problems for clients who are working towards a more just world. I build custom web applications, automate complex spatial workflows, and work to scale the complexity of my solutions to align with the capacity of my clients.
I am Secretary of the MIT Chapter of the American Association of University Professors, an advocacy chapter member of AFT-AAUP Local 6741. AAUP-MIT fights for academic freedom, shared governance, economic security, and higher education as a public good.
